About me

Hi, I’m Jana — and I know what it’s like to run on empty.

From the outside, my life looked full: two young children, a demanding part-time role, and running our boutique accommodation business. I was meeting deadlines, supporting guests, caring for my family, and doing my best to keep everything running smoothly.

But underneath, I was constantly tired. Despite my best efforts to stay healthy and keep all the balls in the air, I still didn't feel well.

Everything shifted when my body delivered a message I could no longer ignore: a sudden and debilitating thyroid crash.

Looking back, the thyroid crash wasn't the beginning of the story — it was the moment my body finally got my attention. For years, I had responded to life's challenges by becoming more organised, more capable, and more determined. When circumstances became more difficult, I simply tried harder.

What I slowly came to realise was that wellbeing isn't about pushing through exhaustion or trying to do everything perfectly. Sometimes it's about recognising your limits, letting go of unrealistic expectations, asking for support, and creating a way of life that is sustainable for the season you're in.

That experience changed not only my health, but also the way I understand wellbeing. Today, it shapes the way I support women who are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves.

How I Found My Way to Health Coaching

Health and wellbeing had always been a personal interest of mine. I was fascinated by the way food, movement, lifestyle, and everyday habits influence how we feel, function, and age.

Before becoming a Health & Wellness Coach, I spent nearly two decades working as a Geospatial Analyst. While I enjoyed the work, a major organisational restructure eventually prompted me to reflect on where I wanted to focus my energy and how I could create meaningful impact in people's lives.

At the same time, I was navigating my own health challenges and learning first-hand how difficult it can be to maintain wellbeing while juggling work, family, and life's many responsibilities.

Then, quite unexpectedly, I met a Health Coach on Stewart Island. Something clicked. For the first time, I could see a way to combine my fascination with health, my love of helping people, and my analytical background.

Within a week, I had enrolled with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). Before I had even finished my studies, I was already working with my first clients.

What began as curiosity soon became a calling.

I discovered that what I enjoy most isn't giving advice. It's helping people make sense of their situation, gain clarity, and take meaningful steps towards a healthier and more sustainable life.

My Approach

I don't believe wellbeing comes from trying harder.

Most of the women I work with are already doing their best. They're caring for others, juggling responsibilities, and trying to make healthy choices wherever they can.

What they often need isn't more information or another list of things they "should" be doing.

They need space to pause, gain clarity, and understand what's really going on.

My role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, help you recognise patterns, and support you in finding a way forward that feels realistic and sustainable for your life.

Together, we'll focus on the changes that are likely to make the biggest difference — one step at a time.

Training and Background

My coaching combines professional training in health and wellness coaching with nearly two decades of experience understanding complex systems, identifying patterns, and helping people navigate challenges with greater clarity.

Alongside my formal coaching qualifications, I continue to deepen my knowledge in areas such as gut health, hormonal wellbeing, behaviour change, and sustainable lifestyle practices.

Health & Coaching Foundations

My coaching is grounded in professional training in health and wellness coaching, with a particular interest in energy, gut health, hormonal wellbeing, and sustainable lifestyle change.

Rather than focusing on quick fixes, I help women understand the bigger picture of their wellbeing and identify practical changes that support lasting improvements in energy, health, and quality of life.

Analytical & Systems Thinking

Before becoming a Health Coach, I spent nearly two decades working as a Geospatial Analyst.

My work involved identifying patterns, understanding complex systems, solving problems, and helping people make sense of large amounts of information. These skills continue to shape the way I coach today.

I enjoy helping clients step back, recognise what's really driving their challenges, and identify the changes most likely to have a positive impact on their wellbeing.

  • Master's Degree in Physical Geography, University of Dresden, Germany

  • Postgraduate Certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Bildungswerk Ost-West, Dresden, Germany

  • 20 Years as a Geospatial Analyst - specialising in systems analysis, mapping, and problem-solving
